Users can now Post 60 Seconds Video on Instagram
As part of its commitment of bringing users fun, flexible and creative ways to create and watch video, Instagram now allows its users to tell their stories in up to 60 seconds of video.
…and they say it is one step of many that users will get to see this year.
Allowing users tell their stories for long became inevitable because “in the last six months, the time people spent watching video increased by more than 40 percent,” Instagram stated in a blogpost.
With the 60 seconds of video feature, users can now enjoy even mean more diverse stories from the accounts they follow.
The feature started rolling out this week.
iOS users are even getting more. The ability to make videos out of multiple clips from their camera roll has been brought back. This feature will be available this week in Apple’s App Store as part of Instagram for iOS version 7.19.
The move is particularly interesting in that it moves away from the 10-second time limit popular in apps like Snapchat and inches Instagram closer to YouTube territory.
Think about it, with a time limit of one minute, clever video producers could easily begin crafting even more elaborate mini-documentaries of their lives, one one-minute snapshot at a time.
For anyone who lives on Instagram, this is an absolutely seductive update that could pull them even further away from the video confines of YouTube.
However, the update is described as "rolling out today ... available for everyone in the coming months," which likely means it may only be available to influencers during its initial stages.
