Israeli politician's wife apologizes on twitter for Obama diss joke
Judy Shalom Nir Mozes, wife of Israeli interior minister Silvan Shalom, faced a stiff backlash on Sunday for tweeting what many considered a racially-tinged joke about U.S. President Barack Obama.
Mozes later deleted the tweet and issued an apology.
Still, the criticism from the social media echo chamber was swift and loud.
This isn't the first time Mozes, who is also a radio and television host, has stirred up trouble because of a social media post. In March of 2012, Mozes faced criticism for a tweet she made in reference to rockets fired from the Gaza strip in which she said, “I hope that today they decide to destroy Gaza if they don’t stop shooting. Let them suffer as well.”
Then, later that same year, Mozes stepped down from her post with UNICEF after criticism surrounding Facebook posts that backed Israeli military action in Gaza. From The Jerusalem
