It seems Johnny Manziel's bumpy rookie season is officially over

Maybe Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel's rookie season will be remembered as a bump on the road to a great career, or as a sign that he was one of the most-hyped busts of this century.

Whichever, it's officially just a memory now.
The Browns have already ruled Manziel out of their Week 17 game because of a hamstring injury, meaning his season is over. Browns coach Mike Pettine said in his Monday press conference that the hamstring injury was "pretty significant" and would take several weeks to heal, according to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal.
The Browns also might be without quarterback Brian Hoyer in Week 17. He hurt his shoulder on Sunday. It's possible that undrafted rookie Connor Shaw out of South Carolina will get the start. Pettine said he'll get "a good amount of reps" in practice this week. That might be great news for the Baltimore Ravens, who host the Browns and need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive, and bad news for the other AFC contenders whose playoff dreams rest on winning and having the Ravens lose in Week 17.
Manziel tweaked his hamstring early in the game and then made it worse when he stayed in. Although his rookie year wasn't good, it was interesting.
Manziel was one of the most hotly debated players coming into the NFL draft in recent memory, and then his slide down the first round was the story of the draft. The Browns traded up to pick him 22nd overall. Manziel was a topic of conversation all offseason, mostly for being spotted partying during the summer. He played well at times in the preseason (and also got fined for making a lewd gesture to the taunting Washington Redskins), but couldn't win the job from Hoyer. Manziel barely played before a Week 13 game against Buffalo, when he ignited the team for one series in the fourth quarter and had a 10-yard touchdown run.
Hoyer got one more start, then Manziel got his first career start in Week 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals and was awful. He got knocked out early in his Week 16 start against the Panthers, and that was that.
Manziel's rookie stat line will read like this: 18-of-35 for 175 yards, no passing touchdowns and two interceptions, plus 29 rushing yards with one touchdown. It wasn't what he or the city of Cleveland wanted, but at least there's room to grow. Source: Yahoo
