Indications emerged yesterday that 8 doctors, 4 nurses n5 health workers have been Infected with LASSA Fever. The doctors and other workers were said to have contracted this dreaded disease after they participated in a surgical operations at the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (FETHA)
It was gathered that the pregnant woman and her baby later died few days after they were discharged from the hospital, were suspected to have died due to LASSA Fever infection....
"In 2013 there were 21 cases with 8 deaths, in 2014 we have had 18 cases with 2 deaths " Esike stated"
